Despite vulnerabilities and marginalization, evidence from recent disasters in the Asia-Pacific region also demonstrates the capabilities and leadership of LGBTIQ+ populations to cope in the aftermath of disasters, and to leverage existing social networks for the protection and recovery of their communities. In recognition of these unique needs, risks, demands, and capabilities the following pages highlight case studies, references, and input on actions that promote LGBTIQ+ rights and inclusion in humanitarian action and disaster risk reduction.
