During Trans Advocacy Week of 2026, APTN’s Human Rights and Advocacy Manager, Nhuun Yodmuang, representing TAW and joined panelists of the 62nd HRC Side Event reflecting legacies of Special Rapporteur’s Health Mandate to SRHR in the Past 6 Years, organised by IPPF, Center for Reproductive Rights, and Women Deliver.
The statement also highlighted the urgent need to ensure that healthcare for trans and diverse people remains and moving into the center of global human rights agendas while welcoming the incoming UN SR on Rights to Health mandate holders.

We begin with our deepest gratitude for your tenure.
At a time when trans and gender-diverse people faced growing attacks—including within UN and multilateral spaces—you chose a different path.
Rather than turning away, you stood with communities at the margins.
As your tenure concludes, we hope this is not the end of our engagement.
Today, trans healthcare is increasingly framed as a burden on health systems, healthcare workers, and other marginalized communities.
We believe these tensions are not caused by trans people, but by broader systemic failures, including underinvestment in public health systems.
That is why your report on “Healthcare and Care Workers as Defenders of the Right to Health” feels especially timely and important.
As we welcome the next mandate holder, we hope they continue to walk alongside trans and gender-diverse communities worldwide.
Your legacy is not only found in reports, recommendations, or country visits.
It lives in how communities felt seen.
How communities felt heard.
And in the trust you built with those too often left at the margins.
